Lawrie: 'I played nicely again'

Friday, January 29 2016 by SNTV
  • Paul Lawrie reacts after shooting a 66 to go one stroke clear at the halfway stage of the Qatar Open.

SOUNDBITE: (English) Paul Lawrie (leader on 133 after a 66):

"Yes, I played nicely again. Controlled the flight of the ball, played well, which is what you've got to do when it's windy. Hit a lot of really nice knockdown shots today. Got the ball pin-high a lot and rolled it again really well on the greens apart from 15 - only mistake I made, same as yesterday, was a three-putt from close.
"Marc Warren had a wee look at me last week when I missed the cut in Abu Dhabi. He said the same as everyone else says about my putting: the stroke's too long, needs to be a little shorter and a little quicker, so I've kind of been working at it the last couple of days and it certainly feels as though I've got it a bit better."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Nicolas Colsaerts (second on 134 after a 68):

"Yes, certainly get my rhythm back on. The front nine was a bit on and off. I hit a few holes and maybe thought I could have slipped the score on the par in the front, which I didn't but the eagle on the first - my tenth - was certainly the rhythm-kicker that I was hoping for and then played pretty well the rest of that side which made me come back in in four-under, which was good."
