Cricket: 'Phenomenal' Australia want more

Wednesday, January 20 2016 by SNTV
  • Australia batsman David Warner and India team director Ravi Shastri look ahead to the fourth one day international at Manuka Oval in Canberra.

SOUNDBITE: (English) David Warner (on leading the ODI series 3-0 versus India):

"It's fantastic. We are the 3-0 up. The boys are playing fantastic cricket. The way we are going out there and addressing the situation when we are batting, especially, is phenomenal. Credit to the top order and I was actually very, very excited to see Glenn Maxwell go out there and play a mature innings and get us home, which was fantastic.

"Yeah, look I think it comes down to actually having that momentum - and having the momentum of chasing big totals down. It gives you that bit of added advantage where you are confident in yourself. You are backing your team-mates and the middle order.

"Yeah, at the end of the day, so far 300 has not been enough. We have to be on top of our game to chase down the good totals that India are posting."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Ravi Shastri, India team director (on the results so far in the ODI series):

"There's absolutely no shame in the way they played, in spite of the results. I know there is only one way this tour of Australia going to go and that is up. I know what happened 12 months ago after the Test series - and I know where we stand today as far as the Test match team (goes).

"On the one side, it's a young side and we have had three debutants. We've been plagued by injuries. No excuses. I am not giving any excuses for the youngsters, who will learn. In Australia, nothing comes easy. It's one of the hardest places to play and you are playing against the world champions. The fact that they're competing and they have competed in the one-day series itself is very good."
