All-rounder Shane Watson has been recalled to the Australia team for the upcoming twenty20 internationals against India.

"Yes, it is a pleasant surprise. Look, in the end I suppose it just came down to me really just wanting to play for the (Sydney) Thunder, and doing well for Sydney Thunder over this BBL (Big Bash League). And whatever happened from there, with the Aussie side of things, I was not worrying about it at all anymore because, after being dropped from the one day squad, I knew that my international days are nearly over, so it is nice to get that surprise and get that call from Rod Marsh (selector) yesterday."

"Look of course it is nice to know that I've had a lot of experience over in India, playing a lot of IPL tournaments and having some success over there as well. So I know that was always going to give me more of an opportunity to get picked, but in the end it comes down to performance. Luckily i performed over the last couple of games."

(on whether Australia can win ICC World Twenty20)

"We certainly got the calibre of players to be able to win the T20 World Cup. The one thing about twenty20 cricket is, it is very fickle, like it was in the final against England when we played in 2010 in the West Indies. In the end they just had a better day than us, even though we certainly had an incredible team at that point in time. So you just have to be..in twenty20 cricket you just have to be absolutely best every single game, because one performance from one person in the opposition can mean you lose the game."
