Three lead at Joburg Open after penultimate round

  • Three players are tied for the lead after the end of the third round of the Joburg Open at the Royal Johannesburg and Kensington Golf Club on Saturday (16 January).

    The penultimate round of the Joburg Open was played out on Saturday (16th January) and ended with three players tied for the lead at the top of the leader board.

    England's Anthony Wall and South Africans Zander Lombard and Haydn Porteous are the three players in question - The trio tied on 15 under par.

    Lombard was the pick of the leaders with his seven under-par 65 one of the rounds of the day.

    Porteous got himself out of trouble with this shot out of the sand at the first - he finished the day with a score of 68.

    This was the score that Englishman Wall managed to complete the trio of leaders going into the final days play on Sunday.

    Elsewhere, home favourite Ernie Els hopes of a popular win look over as the former Open and US Open champion is back on seven under par, eight shots off the lead.

    With nine players within three shots of the lead, including Ireland's Paul Dunne, everything is still up for grabs going into Sunday's final day of play.
