Faulkner: 'Lehman instills confidence in players'

Friday, January 15 2016 by SNTV
  • Australia and India trained and spoke on Thursday (14th January) ahead of their second ODI in Brisbane, Australia which takes place at the Gabba on Friday (15th January).

SOUNDBITE: (English) James Faulkner, Australia batsman/bowler (on feeling confident under coach Darren Lehmann):

"I think in general, ever since Boof (Darren Lehmann) has taken over as coach he has given us a hell of a lot of confidence as a batting group, as a group in general, whether we're batting or bowling to take on the game. He said when we're chasing those targets he'd rather see us bowled out for 200 trying to reach 300 plus than just nudging it around and making a meal of it. As a batter and bowler I have a lot of confidence playing under him and I know every other player in the group does as well to try to stretch our limits as a group."

SOUNDBITE: (English) James Faulkner, Australia batsman/bowler (on the flat wickets in Perth and Brisbane):

"I think everyone was surprised at the way we played in Perth. Obviously it was very flat and we saw lots of runs scored, I think any time over 300 runs have been scored and chased it's definitely a flat wicket. Good game of cricket, I'm expecting the same sort of scenario here as well, I haven't seen a one day wicket that hasn't been flat here for a fair while. It should have good pace, good carry and it should be a good contest against."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Rohit Sharma, India batsman (on the wicket being good for bounce):

"You'll have to wait and see tomorrow but certainly yes, playing in Brisbane and Perth where there is an element of bounce, it'll help fast bowlers more than the spinners. Yes there are discussions going on but we'll have to wait and see what MS (Dhoni) says is the exact and right combination to go forward."
