  • Team Europe prepares for the Eurasia Cup 2016 ahead of Friday's opening day in Kuala Lumpur

SOUNDBITE: (English) Ian Poulter (on how Team Europe captain Darren Clarke is approaching the Eurasia Cup 2016):

"He's (Darren Clarke) very serious about this week, he's the captain and he obviously doesn't want to lose so, you know, he's done it properly, he's looked into all the stats and try to look at all his pairings and obviously picking Lee (Westwood) and myself, you know he wants to have a couple of players in there that have played lots of match play golf, and that's what he's got."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Ian Poulter (on Team Europe Captain Darren Clarke probably thinking about the Ryder Cup preparations):

"It is, we're in Asia so this is, you know, the Eurasia Cup. I think obviously in the back of his mind, he's got a couple of options there, in terms of looking at the young guys, getting a feel for things, in terms of what it's gonna be like for them playing in the Ryder Cup because obviously most of the guys that are playing here obviously in with a great chance to be in the Ryder Cup team, so it will be new for them and great experience.

SOUNDBITE: (English) Ian Poulter (on the challenges of the Eurasia Cup being played in Asia):

"Well, you know, we're away from home. So therefore, the heat's an issue, so we have to weather that pretty well, and obviously grainy greens, small greens, different roughs, so obviously we need to acclimatise to that."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Lee Westwood on Darren Clarke picking him and Ian Poulter for the Eurasia Cup

"I think Darren's probably looked at his team and sees it as a young team and you know, not too much team golf experience in it and wanted some experience in there and you know therefore to pick myself and Ian (Poulter). Obviously when you're captain's pick, you feel little bit more pressure to perform and validate that pick but you know, I've been picked for the Ryder Cup a couple of times, this is the first time I'm playing the Eurasia cup obviously and obviously we got picked this week so, I know I'm experienced enough and like I said before, you just try and go out there and play the game you know you can play and hopefully the other two guys or the guy in the singles didn't play as well as you and you win a point."
