Tuesday, January 12 2016 by SNTV
  • India captain MS Dhoni insisted on Monday (11th January) that his team is not seeking revenge against Australia ahead of the first of their five One Day Internationals in Perth, Australia.

SOUNDBITE: (English) MS Dhoni, Captain, India:

(on whether India has revenge on their minds)

"You know when it comes sport and especially when you play cricket I don't think revenge is a word that should be used or hate and revenge...because they are not the same when you say it is a gentleman's sport, it becomes quite conflicting. But you want to compete, you want to win games because at the end of the day you are representing your country and you want to win games. But at the same time you want to follow the guidelines that have been in the spirit of the game. It starts from the small basic things, I won't consider the words revenge and all of that. But definitely we would like to do well, we want to get a lot out of this particular series. As I have said Australians are known to play tough cricket irrespective of where they are competing, which means it gives our youngsters and our players who are part of the side a fair amount of exposure and game time over here actually gives you a lot of experience. So as I said it would be a very good learning curve for especially the youngsters who are part of the side and the game time will test the seniors who are part of the side."
