German duo Angelique Kerber and Andrea Petkovic advance to the quarter finals of the WTA Brisbane International.

Angelique Kerber certainly likes playing at the Brisbane Open. For the fourth year in a row, she is through to the quarter finals after a one-sided win over American Madison Brengle.

Kerber needed just over an hour to seal her up a 6-3, 6-0 victory as her powerful groundstokes were too much for Brengle.

Next up for her in the last 8 is Russia's Anastasia Pavlyuchenko. As for Brengle, she will play in the Hobart International next week, aiming to go one step further than her runner up position last year.

And Germany had a double triumph to celebrate when Kerber's fellow countrywomen Andrea Petkovic also qualified.

But she had a much harder time against Ekaterina Makarova.

Both sets were close but Makarova made some crucial errors and Petkovic came through 7-5 6-4.

She will now take on American qualifier Samantha Crawford.
