South Africa batsman Faf du Plessis reflects on the third day's play in the second Test at Newlands in Cape Town on Monday (4th January).
SOUNDBITE (English) Faf du Plessis, South Africa batsman:
"Yeah, look obviously we were behind the eight ball from day one, England played extremely well. It needed a real resilient performance from us to try and get back into the game and that's what we did today. We possibly didn't score as quick as England did obviously, but for us it was just to get back into the Test match, that was all we could do. To lose one wicket in the day is an extremely good effort from the batting unit. I'm really proud of 'Hash' (South Africa captain Hashim Amla), to get a big score like he did today, we as a team are really proud of him."
SOUNDBITE (English) Faf du Plessis, South Africa batsman:
"Look, I think with England scoring such a big score in the first innings and at the rate that they did, it put us under a lot of pressure, so for me tomorrow will just to be bat and try and bat at a rate that AB (AB de Villiers) and Hash was going at today, which was probably about three runs an over. The English bowling attack is obviously very experienced, so you have to acknowledge that, I don't think you can just expect to go at five or six runs an over to them, so our plan will just to be bat, to bat as long as possible and if we get something going, where the run rate picks up a bit and somehow the Test match becomes a situation where we can still do something to try and win it, then that will happen. But for now it's just to bat and make sure we get England into a position of just bowling and bowling."
