German fourth seed Angelique Kerber defeated Italy's Camila Giorgi 5-7, 6-3, 6-0 in the first round of the Brisbane International on Monday (4th January).
Angelique Kerber made an unlucky start to her first round match at the WTA Brisbane International on Monday.
The German world number ten dropped the first set against 35th-ranked Italian Camila Giorgi, 7-5.
However, Kerber rallied herself and took the next two sets, 6-3, 6-0.
She will now play American Madison Brengle in the second round at Queensland Tennis Centre.
