Steyn-less South Africa prepare for second Test

Saturday, January 02 2016 by SNTV
  • There's a blow for South Africa as fast bowler Dale Steyn is ruled out on the eve of the second Test with England in Cape Town

A shoulder injury suffered in their first Test defeat in Durban has put paid to Dale Steyn's participation in the second Test against England at Newlands.

The 32-year old has been replaced by Kagiso Rabada.

Another pace bowler, Kyle Abbott, is also doubtful with a hamstring problem.

But captain Hashim Amla remains positive.

South Africa - ranked the number one Test team in the world - slumped to a heavy defeat in their first encounter with England, losing by 241 runs.
Amla still has faith in his side, however.

The Proteas will be determined to reverse their fortunes - without a win in their last seven Tests, it's their longest sequence without a victory since their re-admission to international cricket in 1991.
