Reaction after England defeated South Africa by 241 runs in Durban on Wednesday (30th December) to take the first match in the four-Test series.
SOUNDBITE: (English) Hashim Amla, South Africa captain
"I think as a whole, as a batting unit...certainly as captain you want to lead from the front and not getting runs has been, I think, the most disappointing for me. Dean (Elgar) started it off brilliantly, I mean, his hundred has probably been the positive light in this test match for us. He has batted well in India and the way be batted in this game is a good lesson for everybody"
"Hopefully I can turn it around in the next couple of Test matches and start leading from the front, getting the runs on the boards, so that the boys can follow."
"You can be doing everything probably well in the nets and putting the work in behind the scenes, etc, etc, but it has got to materialise into some sort of runs on the boards, especially in the big games. So, hopefully the new year, 2016, could be a change around for the South African team, it has been a very tough test year for us. So yeah we are hoping that we can change it around".
SOUNDBITE: (English) Russell Domingo, South Africa head coach
"There is a lot that went wrong in this game, there is no doubt about it, there is a lot of questions about that batting line-up, there's a lot of questions about AB's retirement, about Dale's injuries. So, there is a lot going on at the moment. I think the important thing for our team is to really stay a tight unit and keep the noise out."
