  • Kei Nishikori beat Jack Sock in three sets 4-6, 6-3, 10-7 at the exhibitional 'Maria Sharapova and Friends' tennis tournament in Los Angeles

The second day of the 'Maria Sharapova and Friends' took place at the UCLA Tennis Center

World number eight Kei Nishikori took on world number 26 Jack Sock, as both players took the opportunity to fine tune their tennis ahead of a new season.

There was certainly a laid back atmosphere, at one stage a ball boy given the chance to rally with Nishikori.

A star in the making perhaps.

The match went to three sets, which Nishikori won 4-6, 6-3, 10-7.

Afterwards the Japanese player spoke about the match.

SOUNDBITE: (English) Kei Nishikori (On match with Jack Sock)

"It was really fun, he has a great forehand, it's tough always to make rallies with him, but I thought I played good tennis here and it was a little cold and windy conditions here, but it was fun on the court."

Nishikori teamed up with tournament host Maria Sharapova in a doubles contest against Sock and Great Britain's Laura Robson.

Once again it was a mostly light hearted match, Sock deciding to mimic Sharapova's infamous grunting during one rally, much to the amusement of the audience.

Rain eventually stopped the contest early, with no result declared.
