Marco Simone Golf and Country club, in Rome, has been chosen to host the Ryder Cup competition in 2022.

"We all worked so hard to get 2022 in Italy, in Rome and at the Marco Simone, which is this amazing place built by my family in the mid 80's. There is a green dream team. So many people worked with so much passion and we had the typical Italian reaction, let me say, we screamed, we cried, we hugged each other. I guess we surprised the European Tour Team that was on the other side of the phone. But I believe they really appreciated the passion that we have behind this bid, behind this competition. We really want to bring the big golf in Rome. We think it is a great chance for everybody. It is an amazing chance for young people, who can live the passion and join such a worldwide emotion."

"It was a very special combination between public and private. The whole country wanted to get the Ryder Cup. The whole country wanted to attract new values and new emotions to this amazing place. So what I did: I rushed to Marco Simone to share the emotion with my mother Laura, who with my father - who unfortunately passed away 20 years ago - imagined such a wonderful place, and to share it with my team. Everybody was waiting for me right here with a glass of Italian champagne, with music, with flags."
