  • Maria Sharapova beat Madison Keys and Mardy Fish overcame Andy Roddick at the 'Maria Sharapova and Friends' exhibition tournament in Los Angeles, USA on Saturday (12th December).

Saturday saw a treat for tennis fans as the 'Maria Sharapova and Friends' exhibitional event provided plenty of entertainment in Los Angeles.

Joining Sharapova at the event were Madison Keys, Mardy Fish and Andy Roddick.

And despite hosting the event Sharapova did not get things all her own way against Keys in her headline exhibition match and dropped the first set.

However, Sharapova eventually triumphed in a third set tie-breaker - coming from behind to take the match 6-7, 6-1, 11-9

Speaking after the match Sharapova said there is still plenty to do to be ready for the first Grand Slam of the season in Australia in January.

SOUNDBITE: (English) Maria Sharapova "Oh I think at this time of year there is still a lot of room for improvement. I only spent a few days on the court,

it's been a little bit of a tight off-season for me because of the Fed Cup and having a shorter off-season, but yeah overall there is still a lot of weeks to go before I head out to Australia."

Earlier in the day retired stars Mardy Fish and Andy Roddick played out an entertaining match, with both men showing they can still do the business as demonstrated by this pulsating rally in the opening set.

Fish eventually emerged victorious and served out the match to beat Roddick 7-6, 4-6, 12-10.
