Feng storms to record third win in Dubai

Sunday, December 13 2015 by SNTV
  • China's Shanshan Feng became the first player to win the Dubai Ladies Masters for a third time following a dominant 12-shot victory at Emirates Golf Club on Saturday (12th December).

After taking a five-shot lead into the final day of the Ladies Dubai Masters, it would have taken a real upset to stop defending champion Shanshan Feng.

Thailand's Thidapa Suwannapura carded a round of 65 on the third day, but struggled on day four with a round of 75.

Nevertheless, that was enough to see her finish in second, just one shot ahead of England's Melissa Reid.

But the day belonged to Feng as she charged to a record third win in the event.

Her margin of victory over Suwannapura was a whopping 12 shots.

The 26-year-old from Guangzhou has had a tremendous season.

She's recorded victory at the Buick Championship in Shanghai and two further top-three finishes, at the Evian Championship and the Sanya Ladies Open.

Her latest triumph sees her top the Ladies European Tour's Order of Merit.

SOUNDBITE: (English) Shanshan Feng, Dubai Ladies Masters champion:

"Well, I'm still a little excited right now because this is my third time to win here - and, you know, when I just arrived last Saturday all in my mind was all the good memories here in the past three years, and I was just hoping to copy and do that again. And I was actually really relaxed on the course and I really enjoyed all four days, and really happy I'm here again."
