Thailand Championship: Kaymer closing in on Donaldson

  • Martin Kaymer moved to within two strokes of overnight leader Jamie Donaldson on the second day of the Thailand Championship.

Martin Kaymer moved to within two shots of overnight leader Jamie Donaldson on the second day of the Thailand Championship. The German carded eight birdies on his way to a round of 68.

Donaldson was not quite as spectacular as was for his 63 on the first day, the Welshman recovered from three bogies on the front nine though to lead on 13 under.

Matthew Fitzpatrick is one of three players on nine-under, this was one of six birdies he sank today.

Also tied in third is Sergio Garcia, the Spaniard started well enough, this shot helped him birdie the opening two holes but he failed to really pressure Donaldson, ending with 69.

The home crowd will be backing the other man on nine-under Chinnarat Phadungsil also went round in 69 to keep himself very much in contention.

Bubba Watson needs a good moving day if he is to get in the mix, he is ten strokes off Donaldson but he did probably have the finish of the day. Maybe one to keep an eye on this weekend.
