Leishman overtakes Stenson in Sun City

Sunday, December 06 2015 by SNTV
  • Australia's Marc Leishman leads Henrik Stenson of Sweden by a shot after the third round of the Nedbank Golf Challenge in Sun City, South Africa on Saturday (5 December).

Day three of the Nedbank Golf Challenge in Sun City on Saturday saw a change of leader as Australia's Marc Leishman edged out Henrik Stenson of Sweden.

Leishman started the day on 8-under par, trailing the leader Stenson by three shots. However, a strong showing back nine saw him close the day on 14-under and top of the leaderboard.

Stenson had started strongly and his birdies at the 14th and 15th put some daylight between him and the chasing pack, but two bogeys in the last three holes set him back as he finished with a score of 70.

The Swede's slip up allowed Leishman to close in and the Australian birdied the last two holes to finish with a 6-under round of 66, moving him to the top of the leaderboard, one shot ahead of Stenson.

Elsewhere South African Jaco van Zyl ended the day in third on 10 under, while American Robert Streb was a shot behind in fourth place.
