  • A South African Supreme Court of Appeal judge ruled on Thursday (3rd December) to overturn a manslaughter conviction against Oscar Pistorius - and found the double-amputee Olympian guilty of the charge of murder for killing girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.

Olympic and Paralympic runner Oscar Pistorius has been found guilty of murder for the killing his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp on Thursday.

Pistorius, 29, was orignally convicted of manslaughter, or culpable homicide, for shooting Steenkamp through a toilet door in his home early on Valentine's Day in 2013.

The mother of Reeva Steenkamp was present in court to hear Justice Lorimer Leach read out the ruling that was found by a panel of judges.

Last month, prosecutors argued at the Supreme Court of Appeal, that the judge at Pistorius' origional murder trial, made errors when she acquitted him of murder.

The 29-year-old was origionally released from jail on October 19th after serving one year of a five-year sentence and had been under under house arrest.
Pistorius will now have to return to court for sentencing, with the minimum punishment for murder in South Africa a 15-year prison sentence.
