Ranieri: "We are very proud of Vardy's record"

Sunday, November 29 2015 by SNTV
  • Reaction after Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy set a new English Premier League goal-scoring record on Saturday (28th November) by netting for an 11th consecutive game in a 1-1 draw against Manchester United.

SOUNDBITE (English) Claudio Ranieri, Leicester City coach:

(on the record set by Vardy)

"Oh, it's important for him. The record, there are records, because somebody, sooner or later, breaks the record. Now I hope this record... keeps on for a long time and we are very, very proud of this record, because everybody, his team-mates, help him to achieve it."

SOUNDBITE (English) Louis van Gaal, Manchester United coach:

(on the game and his disappointment in not taking three points)

"I'm very disappointed because I have the feeling that we could have won this game... and we didn't do that and we gave the goal away... and other chances they had, we gave it also away, so we could have lost also the game, despite our dominance and I think when you want to be the champion at the end of the season and we want that, the players want that, the manager wants that, the defence wants that, so then you have to win these kinds of games. And we didn't do that, so I'm disappointed."
