Morgan praises England youngsters following T20 win

Saturday, November 28 2015 by SNTV
  • Reaction after England beat Pakistan by 14 runs in the first T20 international in Dubai, UAE on Thursday (26th November).

SOUNDBITE (English) Eoin Morgan, England captain:

(on James Vince and Sam Billings)

"I mean, I thought they were exceptional. At 18 for three, James Vince coming in on his debut, to play the way that he did on the wicket, that the three before struggled to adjust to, was outstanding. He's been on the fringes now, for a couple of series and obviously has played a lot of County cricket, so to come in and get that reward straight away will obviously give him a lot of confidence."

SOUNDBITE (English) Eoin Morgan, England captain:

(on exposing young England players to top class T20 cricket)

"Yeah, it was and again we want to see as much as we can of it. In County cricket, we just don't have a good enough tournament for guys to be exposed to it as often as we'd like, so I think this is a good tour to expose as many guys as we can to it. If it means senior guys sit it out, so be it. I think it's a really good time for it."

SOUNDBITE (English) Waqar Younis, Pakistan coach:

(on the contributions made by debutant James Vince and Sam Billings to the England innings)

"I think they've got very fine youngsters, both of them, the guys who played, I thought they both played extremely well. They look like big hitters and that, I guess, is what modern cricket requires. Fitness and if you can hit far, you've got a place in 20/20 and I think that England's future is pretty bright."
