Palace know inside track at Newcastle - Keith Millen

Saturday, November 28 2015 by SNTV
  • Crystal Palace assistant manager Keith Millen spoke to the media on Friday (27th November), ahead of the visit of manager Alan Pardew's old club Newcastle United on Saturday (28th November).

SOUNDBITE (English) Keith Millen, Crystal Palace assistant manager:

"They (Newcastle United) have got some good players, they've got some good attacking players, like you say. They've spent money, they've bought forwards in and on their day, if you give them time and give them space they can hurt you. They've got that quality, certainly up front and behind the front man. So we're aware of that. You'd expect a reaction from them after the disappointment of losing at home last weekend (3-0 to Leicester City). So we know, obviously with the connections we've got at the club, we know a lot about their players. They're trying to play good football, they try and play out from the back. So hopefully we've got a game plan that can cause them problems, but we know it's going to be a tough game."

SOUNDBITE (English) Keith Millen, Crystal Palace assistant manager:

"We've got Alan (Pardew) here, the manager. Woody (Andy Woodman), the goalkeeping coach was there, Ben (Stevens) the analyst, obviously Yohan (Cabaye) was there as a player. So we've got a lot of connections between the two clubs, and they talk of enjoyment there. They enjoyed their time there, they were successful, and I know they enjoyed working with the players (there). So, that's the old era, we've all moved on now, and we've really just concentrated on Crystal Palace. We've got to bounce back from Monday's disappointment (1-0 home loss to Sunderland), get the frustration out of our systems and try and put a good performance on tomorrow."
