Australia will host New Zealand at the Adelaide Oval on Friday in the first day-night test match to be played with a pink ball.
History is about to be made here in Adelaide. Friday's test match between Australia and New Zealand will be the first to be played with a pink ball under floodlights.
SOUNDBITE: (English) Steve Smith, Australian captain: "Yeah I am sure that everyone is watching. It's the first time it's ever happened, we are creating here history playing in the first day-night Test, so I'm sure a lot of people are going to be watching around the world, and that's really exciting for world cricket."
This is a one-off experiment but if those seats are full we can surely expect more games with this new format. Play will start at 2pm local time and finish at 9, allowing more people to watch outside of school times and normal working hours.
SOUNDBITE: (English) Brendon McCullum, New Zealand captain:
"I think people are voting with their feet, that they are encouraged by what the pink ball Test match has to offer. For us to play in front of 40,000 people in a Test match is pretty amazing, so we're really really excited about it. Hopefully it goes off brilliantly, there are no challenges and no problems. I think I said after the last Test match, if we have the final session on the fifth day under lights and the Test match result is in the balance, then I think it could be anything for Test cricket, this could be something that is outstanding for the game moving forward."
McCullum will hope the changes will bring a different result too, his New Zealand side trail Australia 1-0 heading into this third and final match of the series.
