Post-match reaction after Atletico Madrid claim 2-0 win over Galatasary in Group C of the UEFA Champions League in Spain on Wednesday (November 25).
SOUNDBITE: (Spanish) Diego Simeone, Atletico de Madrid coach:
"The truth is, we played well. In the first half, despite the fact we had a lot of possession, we did not create as many goal opportunities as expected with that much of the ball. They had one and we had one. In the second half, besides playing well, we created goal opportunities. And football is about scoring goals."
SOUNDBITE: (Spanish) Diego Simeone, Atletico de Madrid coach:
(on the next match against Benfica)
"Of course, theoretically, it´s always better to be first than second in the group, but that guarantees nothing in the last eight - you aren't guaranteed a good team or a bad team, because they're all competitive teams there. We´ll go to Lisbon to play with the same intensity and workrate we always play with, aware that here, they played and won a very good match. They were very smart. There, we will determine the first and second places of the group."
SOUNDBITE: (Portuguese) Claudio Taffarel, Galatasaray goalkeeper coach:
"We played with the rhythm of our local championship and that was a big difference between us and them on the pitch. We were disappointed - we wanted to make our fans happy, but unfortunately there´s a big physical difference between us. We have to applaud our rival and just get much better in the future."
SOUNDBITE: (Portuguese) Claudio Taffarel, Galatasaray goalkeeper coach:
"We found nothing different from what we knew we'd find playing this side: a very strong, focused and aggressive Atletico de Madrid. We just didn't know how to handle them."
