Manchester City win was far from perfect-Klopp

  • Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp says he still saw significant room for improvement from his team's performance in a 4-1 win over Manchester City.

SOUNDBITE (English) Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool head coach:

(On the team's performance against Manchester City)

"That's what you saw at Man City - it worked, there were brilliant moments, but it was far, far, far from perfect. Of course the end result is great, but there's many things we can do better when we work longer together. That's what the players have to do in this very short time we have between the matches and that's what we try. Sometimes it works nearly perfectly and sometimes not and that's what we have to accept."

SOUNDBITE (English) Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool head coach:

    (On his striker situation)

"The best news in this moment is Daniel (Sturridge) is coming closer and closer and closer. He can train seven or eight times in a row. That's the longest period since I've been here. That will help him and that will help us and in the end it will help us and so we have another option - Christian Benteke in very good shape. He is very important for us, when I came here he was injured now he is many, many sessions with the team or the Belgian national team, so that's important too. So we are in a good position at this moment - but football is like you solve one problem and the next second you have another one. Martin Skrtel is a little bit ill, so Mama (Mamadou Sakho) is on a good way but of course not ready for tomorrow. So we have two or a new idea and we will see how we handle it."
