Rio 2016 holds Olympic Field Hockey test event.

The Olympic Hockey Centre located at the northern location of Deodoro in Rio started to host the sport's test event this Wednesday (Nov 25th).

A small tournament with men's and women's teams is being organised by Rio 2016 Organising Committee to test the sports operations at the venue.

From the teams attending the tournament, only Brazil's men team is qualified.

The tournament opened with the men's match between Trinidad and Tobago and Chile, alongside the women's game between Barbados and Peru.

Players have identified that the pitch is faster than the usual one they have been playing.

The Olympic pitch is water-based while the teams regularly play at sand-based fields.

The test event will be going until Saturday.
