Morgan hails 'outstanding England performance'

  • Captains' reactions after England defeated Pakistan by six wickets in Sharjah on Tuesday (17 November) to take an unbeatable 2-1 lead in their four-match one-day international series.

SOUNDBITE: (English) Eoin Morgan, England captain:

"Yeah, I thought we were outstanding today in all facets. With the ball early on we didn't make any inroads but we've sort of seen a pattern throughout this series that the game almost develops in two different stages, sort of first 25 (overs), second 25. So the attitude we showed to stick in and show a little bit of resilience, knowing that it would get harder to bat on and when the opportunity does arise, say, to take a wicket or to take a catch, that we're prepared for it - so that side of things I'm really proud of how things went. We fielded really well and then the chase was exceptional."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Azhar Ali, Pakistan captain:

"In ten overs, in thirty-odd runs we lost five to six wickets, I think that was the period, you know, the whole thing went bad. You know, we had a very good start, Wahab (Riaz) finished off very well, but in between it was just... wickets... every two overs there was a wicket - so that really didn'thelp."
