Messi returns to training with Clasico in his sights

Wednesday, November 18 2015 by SNTV
  • Lionel Messi returned to Barcelona training on Monday (November 16th) after being sidelined through injury since September.

Barcelona striker Lionel Messi trained for the first time in two months after recovering from a knee injury.

His appearance on the training field has fuelled the rumours that he could be ready to make his return in Saturday's Clasico against Real Madrid.

The club's all-time record goal scorer and World Player of the Year suffered the injury in the win over Las Palmas at the end of September.

Spanish media are now reporting that he could be included in the Barcelona substitutes for the match against Real.

In Messi's absence, striker partners Luis Suarez and Neymar have certainly taken the mantle, scoring 20 goals between them in 11 league games.

That has helped propel Barcelona to the top of La Liga, three points clear of rivals Real Madrid.

No doubt, Messi will be hoping to help his side double that lead come the end of the weekend
