Inbee Park won the Lorena Ochoa Invitational on Sunday (15 November 2015), holding off Carlota Ciganda for her fifth victory of the season and 17th LPGA Tour title.
Inbee Park birdied the final two holes for a bogey-free 8-under 64 and a three-stroke victory over Carlota Ciganda in cloudy conditions at the Lorena Ochoa Invitational.
Ciganda shot a 63 but it wasn't enough to win at the tree-lined Club de Golf Mexico.
The Spaniard eagled the par-5 second hole and had eight birdies and a bogey.
Park finished at 18-under for the tournament. She was making her first start since withdrawing in China two weeks ago because of a cyst on her finger.
Park took the lead from top-ranked Lydia Ko in the Vare Trophy standings for season scoring average and moved within three points of Ko in the player of the year standings.
And the Korean expressed all her joy at the end of her round:
SOUNDBITE: (English) Inbee Park
"It was great fun today with Carlota. I didn't know I needed 8-under to win. So yeah, it was a close to perfect day out there today. I didn't make any mistakes and I was able to focus on my game."
