Murray beats Ferrer in O2 Opener

Tuesday, November 17 2015 by SNTV
  • Andy Murray beat David Ferrer in straight sets in the ATP World Tour Finals at the O2 in London.

A rapturous welcome at London's O2 Arena for David Ferrer and Andy Murray as the pair got their World Tour Finals campaign underway
The first set was a tight affair with both holding serve for the first eight games.

But two good slices of fortune helped Murray in the ninth game before breaking in the tenth to take the set 6-4.

Ferrer came out fighting in the second and went on to secure an early break.

But Murray fought back to level at 3-3 before making it 4-3 and started to gain control of the set.

The level from both players remained high - but Ferrer was making mistakes with his serve, and Murray once again pounced to close out the set and the match 6-4, 6-4 to get his campaign off to a winning start.
