Hales' delight at maiden ODI century

Saturday, November 14 2015 by SNTV
  • England's Alex Hales, who struck a maiden century and was named Man of the Match, and Pakistan captain Azhar Ali, reflect on England's 95-run win in the second one-day international in Abu Dhabi on Friday (13th November) which levels the ODI series at 1-1.

     SOUNDBITE (English): Alex Hales, England

"I was obviously very disappointed with how the Australia series went, but coming over here and being part of the Test squad was a new challenge for me. I had a good five, six weeks getting used to the conditions, a lot of time in the nets against spin, and pleased we got some rewards tonight."

SOUNDBITE (English): Alex Hales, England (on forthcoming Test series against South Africa):

"I hope so, it's something I am trying hard not to think about. That tour's a different series, a different format, against a different country and all that's on my mind now is winning these two games and trying to win this series against Pakistan."

    SOUNDBITE (English): Alex Hales, England:

"I guess when you are just netting and stuff it's quite hard to tell, until you are actually out in the middle. I felt in okay touch the other night (scored 10 runs in first ODI on 11th November) and obviously played a bit of a loose shot early on and I am pleased that tonight I managed to give myself a bit more time and get used to the conditions and convert that into a big score."

SOUNDBITE (English): Alex Hales, England (on England's top order batsmen):

"It's very important, particularly at the top of the order over here. Big runs and big scores are massively important as the innnings tend to progress, as we saw tonight, it becomes tough to score towards the end, so as the top three or four it's important that we convert those starts into big scores."
