Smith: 'Australia unchanged for second Test with New Zealand'

Friday, November 13 2015 by SNTV
  • Captain Steve Smith confirmed on Thursday (12th November) that his Australia line-up will be unchanged for the second Test against New Zealand beginning on Friday (13th November) at the WACA ground, while the visitors will likely wait until just before the toss to decide on their team.

SOUNDBITE: (English) Steve Smith, Australia Cricket Captain:

"I think the conditions are going to be pretty similar to the Gabba (in Brisbane, during the first Test). It looks a very good wicket out there, so yeah, we've gone in with the same team."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Steve Smith, Australian Cricket Captain:

"Yeah it looks very good. The groundsman thinks there's going to be quite a bit of pace and bounce, which is going to be nice. But I think it's quite warm over the next couple of days, so I dare say there'll be a few cracks come the end of the game."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Steve Smith, Australian Cricket Captain:

"I don't think I'm that grumpy. Look, I'm just really enjoying everything at the moment. I think the guys played some great cricket last week. Our batters really set it up for us in that first innings and it was nice for our bowlers to take 20 wickets and win that Test match, so, you know, we've got a bit of improvement to do come this week. I think the conditions here are going to suit our bowlers really well, so hopefully another good week of Test cricket."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Brendon McCullum, New Zealand Cricket Captain:

"I think for a start the margin in Brisbane was fair - it was an accurate reflection of how that Test match unfolded. I don't think it's necessarily an accurate reflection of the gulf between the two teams. From our point of view, we know that we can play a lot better than what we did in Brisbane, and we've got to make sure that we're a little bit stronger with some of our execution with the ball especially, so that we come into this Test match believing that we'll be better for (after) the run in Brisbane, knowing there are some areas which we can improve on. If we do that, then hopefully we give ourselves a good chance."
