Sam Burgess returns to Sydney, Australia on Wednesday and resumes Rugby League career with South Sydney - after an unsuccessful 12-month switch to rugby union.

"I learned a lot more about Rugby Union than what I knew before. I did a lot of different training to what I've done in the back line and as a forward in rugby union, so I think it improves me as an athlete all round. I have learned a lot of good things. The game is extremely different. Probably to the naked eye they don't seem so different but when you get in there the technicalities are different. Certainly enjoyed my 12 months there but happy to be back in Sydney."

"I enjoyed the sport but deep down rugby league gave me something different to rugby union. It's not a mock of rugby union at all, because I certainly respect what the players go through in that game and what they do, but for me personally I just play with passion and heart and I think that is where my heart lies, so the sooner I got back it was probably the best."

"Yeah I love south Sydney, never in question really about looking elsewhere or any other clubs. I spoke to Chris, my manager and the first thing we have said was..straight to South so don't bother looking anywhere else. I would find it very hard to put a different shirt on. So yeah, Souths. I love this club and the experience I have had here and the five seasons I have had have been unbelievable. I think you know, the people of Redfern and the people of the South Sydney area. I think it is more than just a game to them. So I guess as a player you are quite privileged to be able to represent them. I just can't wait to do that again this year and hopefully do some great things with a good set of guys."
