Tuesday, November 10 2015 by SNTV
  • Reaction on Monday (9th November) after Australia beat New Zealand by 208 runs in the first Test in Brisbane.

SOUNDBITE: (English) Steve Smith, Australia Captain

"I think New Zealand are a very good side and will fight back hard at us, but it was nice to start off the series on a winning note and go one up in the series."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Steve Smith, Australia Captain

"There were not many out there today, its a bit disappointing, we want everybody to come out and see us play, I think both sides play aggressive brands of cricket and good to watch, its disappointing not to have the crowds out here and hopefully we get a bit more support out of the Waca."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Steve Smith, Australia Captain (On Mitchell Starc's throw at the stumps and NZ batsman Mark Craig)

"I thought it was pretty disappointing, he has done it a few times and I will have a word with him when we get back from the sheds - I don't think it was necessary at the time - and hopefully he can improve and get better from that."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Brendon McCullum, New Zealand Captain

"We had two reviews that we used for decisions which could have gone either way, no regrets there, using BJS when we did as they may be an opportunity to have it overturned and we were the two last recognised batsmen at the crease and we would have given ourselves a decent chance of surviving the day, but that's cricket, and that's not the winning and losing of the game, and you just have to cop it sweet really."
