Wins for Karolina Pliskova and Carla Suarez Navarro in GroupC at the WTA Elite Trophy in Zhuhai, China on Wednesday (4th November).

Karolina Pliskova faced Jelena Jankovic in Group C of the inaugural WTA Elite Trophy in China.

Pliskova was down 3-4 in the opening set before taking control here as the third-seeded Czech stormed back to take the opener 6-4.

But Jankovic rallied back to take a 4-2 lead in the second - before winning it 6-3 to force a third set.

In the third, Pliskova beat Jankovic down the line to force deuce before taking the game and levelling at 1-1.

She then won five of the next six games to win 6-4, 3-6, 6-2.

Pliskova moves to the top of the Group C tables with the win - while Jankovic is 1-1 after opening with a 6-4, 7-5 victory over Sara Errani.

In Group B, Carla Suarez Navarro faced Andrea Petkovic and the second-seeded Spaniard made quick work of her German opponent, taking a 4-0 lead in the first then scoring down the line before winning the opener 6-0.

Petkovic had to take a medical time out in the second set to get treatment on her left knee and was visibly limited in the third set as Suarez Navarro swept to the victory 6-0, 6-0 - knocking Petkovic out of the tournament with her second defeat.

Carla Suarez Navarro will now face Elina Svitolina next for the Group B title.
