Jose Maria Lopez clinched his second consecutive FIA World Touring Car Championship title with a win in Thailand on Sunday (1 November).

The penultimate World Touring Car race weekend of the season took place Thailand on Sunday.

And there was double delight for Jose Maria Lopez at the Chang International Circuit.

He sealed his second drivers WTCC Championship title in as many seasons with victory in the first of the day's two races.

After making a clean start from pole the Citroen Total driver was able to get away, whilst carnage took place in his wheel tracks.

And in race two, Honda's Tiago Monteiro claimed the win, though the race was halted with three laps left for safety reasons, due to fading light.

As darkness descended, Sebastien Loeb was steadily closing in on Monteiro for top spot, but again took second place, just as he had done in Race 1.

With Loeb's two second place finishes and Yvan Muller twice failing to score due to contact, the nine-time world rally champion is just two points behind his Citroen team-mate heading to the WTCC's inaugural night race in Qatar later this month.
