Rafael Nadal came within a whisker of being knocked out of the Swiss Indoors tournament in Basel.

The 14-time grand slam winner found himself a set down inside 25 minutes of his second round match with Czech Lukas Rosol - Rosol won the opener 6-1 and served at 30-0 at 5-4 in the second set, but Nadal held firm.

He broke back, winning three games in a row to take the second set 7-5, as Rosol served a double fault.

The former world number one then raced to a 3-0 lead in the decider - but Rosol wouldn't lie down - he then broke the Nadal serve to level at 4-4.

A tense tiebreaker followed and Nadal appeared doomed again at 3-0 down, but again the Spaniard fought back.

He then went on to close out a 1-6 7-5 7-6(4) victory in two hours and 16 minutes.

    SOUNDBITE: (English) Rafael Nadal:

"Well happy to be through at the end of the day. That's, a good victory, against a tricky player. He was playing great, hitting the ball so quick, so hard, every single shot, so for me it was the first match indoor after a long time without playing in this, surface, so it was difficult to adjust, but I fight it and finally I find, I found a way to win the match."
