"I have always played for the West Indies team, you know, and it was such a pleasure, joy to be able to do what I did. You know, records meant nothing…the team is important. I don't think we have that kind of person today. We might have them in different countries, we might have them in Sri Lanka, we might have them in England, Australia…but I don't think we have that kind of person in West Indies cricket anymore, who is quite prepared to play and give it everything to the country. And that hurts and until we can find people who are willing to play for the West Indies in the right way, I think we are going to struggle for a long time."

"As a cricketing nation, and when you talk about the class of cirkcet that is being played today - South Africa has got to be very, very high. New Zealand also are on the way up. New Zealand are a very good team to be reckoned with these days. I would say that Australia are always going to be there. For all the years that Australia have played cricket - they have never really dropped to that low ebb."
