Andy Sullivan wins the Portugal Masters by a massive margin of nine strokes in Vilamoura on Sunday (October 18) - becoming the first man to win three European Tour events this season.

Heavy overnight rain might have disrupted the course, but Andy Sullivan didn't let the weather throw him off as he became the first man to win three european tour events this year following his wire-to-wire victory at the Portugal Masters.

He entered the final round at Vilamoura with a 5 shot lead. Compatriot Chris Wood was a distant second on 14-under with Anthony Wall, Trevor Fisher and Eduardo de la Riva another shot back in third.

Sullivan opened with three pars before holing a stunning birde from 25 feet on the fourth which moved him to 19 under.

He kept picking up shots with a two-put on the par-five fifth hole and scored his 3rd birdie of the day on the 14th.

While Jorge Campillo made an eagle on the 14th, he found the water on the 17th scoring a double bogey and Sullivan's lead was up 7 shots with Chris Wood unable to chase him.

Sullivan cruised through the day without a single bogey and nearly made an eagle on the 17th but this putt fell just short.

He finished the day in style with a curling putt on the 18th scoring another birdie to lead 9 shots with a round of 66.

Finishing with a total of 23 under par he set a new record winning margin, shattering Alexander Levy's three shot victory last year.

After not tasting success in his first 84 events, Sullivan is now firmly on a winning streak and moves into the top 50 of the World Rankings
