SOUNDBITE (English) AB de Villiers, South Africa captain

"Unfortunately we couldn't break through with MS (Dhoni) and the tail-enders. He has done it before, he is a serious campaigner, he batted well and you have to give credit for that. We tried everything in the book to break the partnership and I thought we did pretty well to get down to number nine and ten in the end. But unfortunately, he managed it really well, rotated strike really well, paced his innings really well. Otherwise we could have chased 200 (runs) tonight."

"But there are certain games in one-day cricket where the tail enders must chip in and I thought they chipped in very well today and it would have been nice to cross the line but I can't blame them. It's the top seven's responsibility to chase down (a run rate).
"I think the turning point was the breakthroughs of the partnerships we had upfront. I thought Hashim (Amla) and Quinton (De Kock) started well and then the Indians broke through there. Then JP (Duminy) and Faf (Du Plessis) batted well and there was another breakthrough."

(looking ahead to the third one day international):

"I think India once they get on top in the home conditions they are really difficult to stop. I think the ball is in our court now and it's up to us to make the play again. We had a great opportunity tonight but that's in the past now. We've got to learn from those mistakes but very important for us as a team to learn from those but move on and put all our focus on the third ODI. I feel if we can break through there...we've got two of the last games and one to win the series. So it's a massive game coming up in Rajkot and we'll just try to go back to the drawing board, see what's going to work for us there and move forward."
