More reaction following Ireland's 24-9 victory over France in the 2015 Rugby World Cup on Sunday (11th October), which sealed top spot in Pool D for Joe Schmidt's side and a quarter-final match against Argentina.

France will face world champions New Zealand in the last eight, a repeat of their 2007 quarter-final at the same stadium as well as the 2011 final.

"We knew that we had to really up our game in order to win. I think they were extremely physical and they love to throw the ball around, love to offload. That's why the French are so good."

SOUNDBITE (English) Rory Best, Ireland hooker:

"When you look at our changing room, and the injuries we had, a lot of our bodies that stayed on the pitch. It was a very tough game. We knew from last week that we would need to be a lot better than we were last week, we knew the intensity was going to have to be a lot better. And we knew if we gave France any kind of inch at all, they are a really, really quality side, they have shown that so far during the tournament. We knew we had to be at our best, or very close to our best, and thankfully we were pretty close to that."

"In the end, I am very disappointed with that game. Now I want to point out that we must move on immediately. We have the chance to play a quarter-final next week, against a serious opponent in New Zealand, so here goes. We did not take the easiest path but it's a big challenge, we're competitors and we will meet it head-on."

"We were making good progression in pre-season and at the start of the competition. Missing opportunities like this is pretty frustrating. We have the necessary weapons, only it was not the right night apparently."
