Nick Kyrgios, John Isner and Dominic Thiem among the early winners at the ATP 1000 Shanghai Masters on Monday (12th October).

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Feliciano Lopez record first round wins at the Shanghai Masters.

Script: The Shanghai Masters got underway at the Qi Zhong Tennis Centre and we kick off the action with fiery Australian Nick Kyrgios.

He made light work of Austrian Andreas Haider-Maurer as he progressed to the second round with a 6-3, 6-2 win.

Big serving John Isner was up against Adrian Mannarino of France meanwhile.

And the 13th seed wasted no time in dispatching his opponent with a comfortable 6-1, 6-2 victory.

It was a similar story for Austrian Dominic Thiem who took on qualifier Lu Yen-Hsun of Taiwan.

The 22-year-old was never threatened, booking his second round place with ease 6-3, 6-3.

Feliciano Lopez also made through but faced a tougher match against Russian Andrey Kuznetsov .

A single break was enough for him to take the first set 6-4, but he was pushed to a tie break in the second set.

And finally, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga survived a scare against Tommy Robredo.

The Spaniard took the first set on a tie break and forced the Frenchman to produce a comeback, he eventually won 6-7, 6-2, 6-2.
