Diaz: 'Paraguay will make Argentina work hard'

  • Paraguay coach Ramon Diaz on 2018 WC qualifier versus Argentina.

Script: SOUNDBITE (Spanish) Ramon Diaz, Paraguay Head Coach:

"I know the way Argentina can play, their skills. They will try to reverse a situation where they couldn't manage to win at home, which is a complicated thing for any coach, for any player. But this is a long process, where all the teams have to adjust themselves. Brazil also lost, so this is a stage where everybody wants results, making matches very tough."

SOUNDBITE (Spanish) Ramon Diaz, Paraguay Head Coach:

"Yes, they are missing important players such as (Lionel) Messi, (Sergio) Aguero, (Gonzalo) Higuain - several players are missing. (Ezequiel) Garay, (Lucas) Biglia as well. Several players that are important in that group. But they have (substitute) players with the same skills. Pocho (Ezequiel Lavezzi) plays at Paris Saint-Germain (for example). These are very prestigious players. That's why we are cautious. The humbleness that we have, the sacrifices that this team goes through makes me believe that this is the right path. And we will make it a tough match for them."
