World number one Novak Djokovic secured his sixth China Open title on Sunday (11 October) with 6-2, 6-2 victory over Rafael Nadal in Beijing.
Script:
Novak Djokovic defeated Rafael Nadal 6-2, 6-2 to win his sixth China Open title.
The top-ranked Serbian player has been so dominant in Beijing, he's lost only three sets in six years.
And this year, he has improved his record at the tournament to a sterling 29 straight wins. He also lost only 14 games coming into the final, the fewest in his career at an ATP Tour event.
Nadal may not have been on top form. Having started slow, he received medical treatment on his foot in the second set.
Djokovic held all the power, saving both break points and hitting 7 aces, and it was an ace that won the match to capture his 56th tour-level trophy.
SOUNDBITE: (English) Novak Djokovic, 2015 China Open winner:
"It's been a more than positive week for me. I think I've played some of my best tennis in this tournament throughout the entire week and I managed to kind of ride on the wave of that confidence today in the finals - and, you know, a win against one of the biggest rivals in straight sets. He did have a little bit of an injury, he did struggle a little bit with the movement - but I tried to, you know, obviously focus on what I need to do. And I'm just very pleased with the way I've played the entire week, and it's hopefully something I'll carry in the next one as well."
Nadal still leads 23-22 but hasn't beaten Djokovic since the French Open final last year.
The world number on takes his sixth China Open title and will play at next week's Shanghai Masters.
