The NBA's pre-season China Games will start on Sunday (11th October) in Shenzhen southern China.

And The LA Clippers and Charlotte Hornets held open training sessions on Saturday morning for fans to see their heroes in action.

And it seems they were there to see one player in particular - new signing Jeremy Lin.

After a blockbuster season in 2012 at the New York Knicks, the California-born player had a difficult year at the LA Lakers last season, but is looking forward to the action with his new club.

SOUNDBITE (English) Jeremy Lin, guard, Charlotte Hornets:
    (On training today)

"Definitely physical. We are getting up and down and people beating up on each other. It was fun, you got to have this kind of practice just to simulate the game, and then that way tomorrow when we are getting in to it we won't be so rusty. You might know (that) yesterday everyone was kind of (with a) cranky body."

Hornets head coach Steve Clifford is confident that Lin will do well in the team.

SOUNDBITE (English) Steve Clifford, head coach, Charlotte Hornets:
(On why he thinks Jeremy Lin will have the same good form as he had in New York)

"Well, just watching him. I went to watch him work-out in the summer, he is a great worker, I think he has great instincts. He has good size, and I think that one of the things he does constantly is, he keeps working on his strengths and then he also works on his weaknesses to get better."
Meanwhile, despite the lengthy journey to get to China, Clippers head coach Glenn "Doc" Rivers is hopeful it will pay off.

SOUNDBITE Glenn Rivers, Clippers head coach:

"I don't think anyone wants to travel to do pre-season, to be honest, no matter where you go. But like I said earlier, I think this year for us is a good year to do it. And I think this will help us, and again, I really believe it, if we win the title, I guarantee you will hear guys say the reason we won, or part of the reason we won, is because of the trip to China."
