Switzerland's Timea Bacsinszky stepped onto the court at the China Open for her quarter final against Sara Errani.
It was not plain sailing for the world No.17 Bacsinszky who had an awful start to the match, losing the first set 6-0 to the Italian.
Bacsinszky found form again in the second set though and broke twice in order to level the match.
Errani dug deep in the final set and matched the Swiss break for break for the majority of the set.
Pressure seemed to get to the Italian on her final service game and a double fault handed the match to Bacsinszky.
This victory capped her 40th win of the season. She took it 0-6, 6-3, 7-5 and will now face Ana Ivanovic in the semi-finals of the China Open.
Elsehwhere Agnieszka Radwanska continued her winning ways on Friday with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Angelique Kerber.
The Pole managed to break a two-match losing streak against her opponent, cruising through the firsts set in just 26 minutes.
Germany's Kerber didn't make it easy however, and went 3-0 up in the second set.
An amazing comeback from the 2011 China Open winner saw her win six of the last seven games of the second set to secure a place in the semi-finals.
Radwanska will take on either Bethanie Mattek-Sands or Garbine Muguruza in the semi-finals.
