World number one Novak Djokovic dropped just four games as he swept into the semi-finals of the China Open in Beijing with a 6-2, 6-2 victory against American John Isner.

It took the Serb just 52 minutes to ease through the quarter-final and book a place in the last four against Spain's David Ferrer.

Djokovic broke the American twice on his way to taking the first set and it was a similar story in the second set - with Djokovic maintaining his own record of not having his serve broken in the tournament so far.

Djokovic is aiming to win the title for the sixth time in seven years as he continues his dominance of the men's game.

SOUNDBITE (English), Novak Djokovic (on being able to deal with Isner's serve):

"Well I think that was the key - I returned a very high percentage of his first serves and I managed to get back in court, back in play, you know, make him move, make him play an extra shot. That's the key when you're playing Isner or big servers like him."

SOUNDBITE (English), Novak Djokovic (on his semi-final against David Ferrer):

"Completely different encounter. Obviously David is one of the toughest competitors out there, he's been on the tour for so many years, he keeps on fighting. He's going to make me play an extra shot and I need to get ready for that match physically and mentally and hopefully I'll be able to play as well as I did throughout the week."
