Juergen Klopp confirmed as Liverpool manager

Liverpool have confirmed that former Borussia Dortmund coach Juergen Klopp will be their new manager.

The German signed a three-year deal in a city centre hotel after flying into Liverpool this evening.

The new manager will be presented at a press conference at Anfield on Friday.

He replaces Brendan Rodgers who was sacked following a poor start to the season.

Klopp is one of the most respected and charismatic coaches in Europe, and led Dortmund the club to two league titles and a Champions League final.

His first match in charge of Liverpool will be against Tottenham on October 17.

Klopp will bring his own backroom staff to Anfield and that means assistant manager Sean O'Driscoll and first-team coach Gary McAllister have lost their jobs - although McAllister will remain in an ambassadorial role.

Head of performance Glen Driscoll and head of opposition analysis Chris Davies will also leave the club as the Klopp era begins.
