    Script: French Open winner Stan Wawrinka secured his second-round spot at the Japan Open by beating Czech veteran Radek Stepanek in straight sets.

    His 7-5 6-3 win means he plays local favourite Tatsuma Ito next

    "I'm happy especially with the way I played today. I think it was a really good match. When I play against Radek it's always a good challenge for me. I used to lose a few matches against him but today was good. I'm feeling well and I'm liking the conditions so I'm happy with the way I was playing today."

    Marcos Baghdatis is through to the second round as well after beating Fernando Verdasco 7-5, 6-1.

    He'll face Benoit Paire who beat eighth-seeded Grigor Dimitrov.

    The unseeded Frenchman beating his Bulgarian counterpart in three sets, 6-4, 3-6, 6-1.
