-
SuggestedLeadIn: Reaction from the Romanian and Canadian camps on Tuesday (6th October) following a 17-15 comeback win for the Eastern Europeans in Pool D of the Rugby World Cup.
Script: SOUNDBITE (English) Lynn Howells, Romania head coach:
"We came in with a game plan, we knew what we had to do against Canada. We had to stop the quick ball and I think we became more effective at that in the second half. Also I think Canada made more mistakes in the second half and give us the chance to get the scrum game going and the driving game going and I think that really changed the game."
SOUNDBITE (English) Lynn Howells, Romania head coach:
"It's a win in the World Cup for us is important. The Italy game is just as important. It gives us the opportunity to win two games and qualify automatically for Japan. It gives Romania to be able to develop and progress for four years."
SOUNDBITE (English) Kieran Crowley, Canada head coach:
"Pretty disappointing from our perspective. I mean you're up 15-0 early in the second half. You played all the rugby in the first half and didn't get the points and we did some pretty naive things in those last 30 minutes. Romania deserved their win. They got their scrum going and got the points."
SOUNDBITE (English) Kieran Crowley, Canada head coach:
"But we played a lot of rugby and we talked about what we wanted to do in the second half but it must have been a terrible speech think. We got a try straight after half time but from then the wheels fell off."
SOUNDBITE (English) Jamie Cudmore, Canada captain:
"Guys are extremely disappointed for working extremely hard in the last three or four months and even many years. We can up second best against a team that I honestly thought we were better than. As Kieran alluded to we broke down in a few game-management areas. Hindsight is 20-20 and the boys are extremely disappointed and I'm just as gutted as them."
